An efficient medium access control protocol for RF energy harvesting based IoT devices

Energy efficiency is one of the major challenges in IEEE 802.15.4 based Internet Things (IoT). In Medium Access Control (MAC) layer standard, Guaranteed Time Slot (GTS) are allocated to IoT devices for data transmission. However, GTS allocation does not consider residual energy resulting reduced life cycle these devices. this paper, we propose an efficient MAC protocol RF harvesting The proposed uses duty adaptation prioritize transmission high devices, allowing low harvest mean time. Simulation results show that and transmitted improved up 94% 79% respectively by using protocol, as compared standard.
